About
Jordi Ferreiro (1982, Barcelona) is an artist and educator.
His work explores the concept of institutional mediation and how art can be a tool for intervening in – and changing – the bureaucratic spaces responsible for administering knowledge, constructing what is understood as culture and regulating ways of comprehending the world.

Building on his interests in experimental pedagogies and site-specific practices, Ferreiro uses installations, performances and established educational formats (guided tours, audio guides, etc.) to generate “states of exception” within cultural institutions, with the intention of testing new infrastructures and models of governance.

Ferreiro has carried out projects in the following international institutions: Bergen Kunsthall (Bergen, Norway), Lighthouse (Brighton, UK), Whitechapel Gallery (London, UK), Z33 (Hasselt, Belgium), Zacheta Gallery (Warsaw, Poland), Museo del Oro (Bogota, Colombia), Lugar a Dudas (Cali, Colombia), Valand Academy (Gothenburg, Sweden), Museo Cerrillos (Santiago, Chile), Gaîté Lyrique (París, France), and TEOR/ética (San José, Costa Rica). He has also worked in numerous institutions in Spain, including MACBA, Centre d’Art Fabra i Coats and Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (Barcelona) and Matadero, La Casa Encendida and Museo Thyssen Bornemisza (Madrid).
